By this time, my children have been to multiple therapists, child study centers, and psychologists. They have had their IQs tested at least 3 times. Daniel started out at 143, but over the years the testing changed and the scores dropped slightly. While not quite a 143, little brother was no dummy either – he scored with an IQ that more than qualified him as intelligent. It amazes me that during all that time (1980-1990’s) that no professional ever picked up on Asperger’s Syndrome.
At one point, a psychologist at the Fort Worth Child Study Center looked me straight in the eye and asked “What do you want from me?” Really? At this point, I guess I came off as a neurotic mother. I’d love to go back to all those professionals and ask WHY and WHY NOT?
